BASEMENT LEGEND
I'm an avid fan and a record collector of deep drum and bass. I'm a more casual but still very enthusiastic fan of deep house. I happen to fall into a DJ booking a few times a year because, well, I guess I've hung around long enough. 1996-today is long enough isn't it? However in my basement...
...I AM A LEGEND IN MY OWN MIND!
I kid, I kid. My real world relationship with music is completely fun. I have a love-love relationship with playing out when I get the opportunity. I enjoy investing the time up front preparing to put together a great set. There's nothing more rewarding than seeing people connecting to what you're doing on the decks and expressing that through dance.
While not as exhilarating as playing out (and nowhere as close to as glamorous) the collecting aspect is 99% as much fun. I love old music, I love new music. Both deserve equal levels of appreciation. Appreciating the new usually means hours of listening to new releases or DJ sets and then tracking down a fresh promo in an online shop (RIP LRSs). Appreciating the old means combing certain places on the net to see if anything on my wantlist has materialized. Or it could mean simply putting a record on, cranking it up and just listening, or dancing around the room like it's the first time I've ever heard it. I love music.
So if you've heard me out I hope you enjoyed it. If you've sold me records I was glad to take them off your hands. If I had more money I'd have bought more. If I've spanked you, it was only out of love.
If you haven't heard me DJ and you're at all curious, all I can say is that:
I believe in the music I play
Count on the majority of the songs to be emotive
Cheese will be minimal (if not absent)
Vinyl is my religion (I do sin on rare occasion)
Thanks for listening,
