Two new reviews

C-drík/Aluviana - Moje ?elo

The press surrounding this release sells it much in the same way you would sell a menu at a restaurant: ambient dishes, industrial dishes, noise peppers and so forth. In all fairness those three descriptions pretty much nail this album on the head.
Opener "Trula Struna" is noisy and oppressive, make no bones about it; the rich dark ambient drones and waves are carried along with crushing oscillators that rise slowly and pummel the senses - mercilessly so. There is a massive element of musique concrète here by the time "Larma Akistika" comes about; manipulated tones and the bell of an old grandfather clock alongside its inner workings are driven along, rising and falling in hypnotic waves. Rarely have the workings of such a household object been used in such a sinister fashion.
"Moje ?elo" is pure aural torture, not in the bad sense, mind you - it simply is meant to be this harsh and brutal on your senses. Even when quiet you cannot escape the fact that this is being slowly driven like needles into your brain, and is the perfect backdrop to any self-respecting panic attack.
Further reading states that both artists have done this with a fair share of humour. I really am scratching my head at this, unless this duo is completely stark raving bonkers. Either way, funny side or not, this is professionally done and a sure-fire winner for fans of proper old industrial and dark ambient purists. A fine, disturbing listen from start to finish.

Contagious Orgasm & C-drík - Journeys Into Space And Time

The pairing of a couple of artists such as these immediately sparked my interest. I quite like previous works I have heard from both, and could that surely only lead to good things? Thankfully this is a yes.
"Transit" kicks off the album in fine form. Suspense-driven violins carry the backdrop to an obscure film-noir soundtrack, dripping with almost murderous intent, and maniacally grabs you by the throat with glee, casually warning you that this might just not be the easiest of listens in the long haul. "Journeys Into Space and Time" obviously is some form of concept album and does teeter around with an almost sci-fi undercurrent. However, this seems to take a back seat, even if this was not the intention; I get something else from it that overrides its cosmos-like quality - it has an intense ritualism. Make no bones about it, if we really are getting down to the nitty-gritty, there is a dark ambient album flowing throughout its veins and it would be wrong to say that it slots singularly into that pigeonhole as well; this is multi-genre placement with consummate ease.
Gritty and noisy, this release also has the ability to pummel the listener, and this doesn't surprise me with one half of the act being Contagious Orgasm. You really can hear what both parties bring to the table and that's just why this works so well. C-drík lifts Contagious Orgasm just when needed, and dare I say, gives this album a certain ease of listening when it could get a little too loud for some listeners. It is an intriguing and intense listen for those who like their music dark and potent with a fair range of depth.

Some news

Hi everybody,
I haven't posted many news the past weeks due to a lack of time.
I played in Jerusalem yesterday and a few days before in Tel Aviv.
Will play in Tel Aviv again in a few days with The klank of rno migs
and record the session.
We still have to edit the last live we made a few months ago here and
another session with Obey the migs which more
noise/metal/doom/experimental.

I recorded one of the lives of rno klank, I will edit a few of the
best parts I played live with this project in Israel, Greece and
France to release a cd sometimes, somewhere.

I'm working on many new releases on Syrphe, just check the website in
December, there will be some updates.
If everything works fine, three new releases will be out around January :

One compilation with women composer in the experimental field from
Malaysia, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea.
One compilation with noise artists from Indonesia.
One compilation with drone/electro-acoustic artists from Egypt.

These will be the last compilations at the present time as it takes a
lot of time, energy and money to realize those projects and my budget
is limited.

So the next step will be to produce some experimental and electronic
artists, possibly from Iran and other countries by the year 2009.

I'm still working on my book and collected many info, made some
interviews, got tons of records from the Mid-East (Israel, Lebanon,
Afghanistan, Turkey) and an interesting book about the punk movement
in Turkey from 1978 until late 90's.

A data base full of contacts from Africa and Asia will be published on
my website in December too.

Some magazines have interviewed me the past few months, I'll send you
the links once they'll be online (in French), some more in Swedish and
German should come in the next few months apparently.

There will be some other interviews online/on the air in Belgium (12
January) and Algeria (no date confirmed yet), I'll keep you updated.

For those who are in the neighbourhood, the next two performances will
take place at Zimmer (Tel Aviv, Israel, 21 November) and Finzerb
(Mons, Belgium, 12 December), check the info on the net, it's
published on my different blogs and pages.

Also, the experimental/electro-acoustic/experimental cinema festival
Brûlures des langues in Paris, France, will play some tracks extract
of Pangaea noise early December, check my blogs to read more.

I guess I forget a few news but it doesn't matter, see you later.
