Sounds are taken from every imaginable source. They are twisted, diced and blended together - often to time signatures usually associated with avant-garde jazz.
Field recordings impart a setting, with isolated elements sequenced to provide percussive effect - bridging everyday sounds with synthesized melodies.
Acoustic sounds are manipulated as if digital, bouncing between processes to generate results that intrigue the ear.
Vintage drum machines are cassette-taped, sampled and digitally treated - giving a new edge to the familiar.
The eponymously titled 'Tapeia' is a musical journey that visits multiple genres, flies past many environments, and peeks through the window at something never seen before. The eight recordings presented take their titles from existing planets that provide navigation points along the way.
Tapeia is a lone musician, armed with a microphone, a computer and a perpetual thirst for audio exploration.
