When I set myself the challenge of posting every day for 24 days, it was a spur-of-the-moment idea without any real consideration of what was involved. Having successfully completed the entire run of 24 posts containing 300 web resources of one kind or another, There are a few things that I've learned.

• Daily posting is not as easy as I thought it would be when I started the challenge.


• If you commit to a set publishing schedule, make sure that you have at least half of the content written beforehand. I worked pretty hard to schedule the posts but the furthest in advance that I ever got was six days. I then made the mistake of feeling as though the pressure was off for a while and not writing anything for a few days.


• Sticking to a formula (e.g. x things on day x) reduces the thinking required but can be something of a constraint, there were plenty of days where I was including items just to make up the numbers or having to leave things out because I'd already completed the list for a particular day.


• Don't be afraid to have lots of draft posts. One thing that I intend to do from now on is to jot down any new post idea as a draft so that I can come back and work on it when inspiration strikes.

The results are yet to be comprehensively measured, but over the course of the series, my blog traffic almost doubled and I've picked up almost 100 new followers on Twitter. I've already thought of a similar idea for later in the year but I'm going to try and get the majority of it written before committing to a schedule (see above).
