If I don't get the senior position here at work, I'm going to bid back to the field. A foremans' job came open in Vancouver, Wa. I don't feel like my heart is really in it here in Ft worth. I thought a corporate position would be something I'd like, but its far too political for me. Plus I'm basically a well paid secretary, no offense to you secretary types. Don't get me wrong, our job is very important and plays a vital part in the day to day operation of the BNSF railway. It just too mundane and the 12hr shifts are very draining. Also if I were to retire tomorrow, I would have to pay $1700.00 out my pocket for insurance for me and my wife, versus $700.00 a month for retiring as a signal foreman or signal inspector. Playing a part in training the guys on the crew suits me better I think, I have 13 yrs under my belt now and have allot of experience all over the system. I'm very hands on and miss working and the feeling of getting a tough project completed on time and under budget.
I'm getting back in shape just in case, I'm running 3-1/2 miles a day and lifting again. I have to get back in shape for pole climbing. The first time you climb a creosote pole is pretty difficult. It gets all over your arms and hands. You clothes stink too. Well thats all for now kids, well see what happens.
