so.. before i decided to write the things that are on my mind, i did some research per say.
i read many of the blogs that i occasionally come across, and found a common denominator.
no one is original.
give or take a few, and considering the fact that some are great pastors, or great musicians, or just anyone in general that has made a name for his or her self, it was just straight up redundant.
it was people (that i personally know) that could only admire these great people. basically it was blogs about already good blogs.
i think its great if your reading something cool in the bible and all, but what are you doing with it? blogging about it? i find that funny i guess.... not to mention all of the links that take you to other peoples blog sites.. all you are is a follower. lead! find what it is that your good at and run with it.
thats my piece. (in other news)
in my short two years of full time ministry, ive discovered that church (the building) has become a fad, rather than a movement (the body). you find more people hanging out at the coolest place in town, and they may talk about it for a few days... but then what? there is no action... all it is is a bunch of name tossing. "oh well i went here this week".... and "im going over there next week"... whats so wrong with just finding the place where you 1. are spiritually feed. 2. can serve. ??? why does it have to be about where your friends are at, or where you can say youve been all day on your facebook status??? what happened to the "church" (movement) where the presence of God was felt so strong you couldnt help but explode with " look at what God is doing!!" not some church building.... or where the worship service was so intense you got chills up and down your spine? a movement is something that 9/10 times is started with one person. or not always started with whats cool in the moment.
i see churches who cant fit anyone in the building with so many people who have talents and gifts, but all they wanna do is spectate...
someone who i see starting a potential movement of God is a friend of mine.
Blake Comer.... that dude, left everything he knew in anderson, and took a youth pastors position in greer, sc. with a handful of kids. no its not running 10,0000. or maybe not even 75. but i will say that his commitment, his passion for jesus christ, and his passion for reaching a youth culture who needs christ, will out way numbers as of now. but in the future, wont have a building big enough for his miniistry. " nothing successful happens over night". - (the little building next to walgreens going towards whitehall.) and that in my opinion is someone who isnt where the fad is, but hes running with passion and conviction, because God has him in a place for a season.
movement - hillsong church. elevation church.
fad - a place that could only give a crap about counting your head....
so get of your butt. quit quoting other people. make a difference. keep your focus on the one who created you.
