WHO Am I AnD WHY ThE HeLL Am I IN THe UK?
I'm an unsigned singer/songwrier from Mauritius Island. I first came to Manchester for my university studies. And guess what?? I fell in love with the city as well as its music scene. In 2007, I hooked up with local producers and songwriters such as Johnny Jay, Ben Blease, The Ironweed (www.myspace.com/theironweedproject) and DaBridge (www.myspace.com/alxbridge) with whom I have been working since.
Last year, those collaborations resulted in a No2 hit on the Mauritian Radio One Top10 with 'More Love'. This dance track stayed in the Top10 charts for more than 3 months! WOO HOO!
A GLiMPSe OF My BACKGRouND!
Growing up on Mauritius Island, I listened to a lot of the Commercial music that was played on the radio. It is in the UK that I have had a real opportunity to discover and enjoy a wider range of music styles. At the moment, I am loving the UK underground dance music scene (Grime, Niche, Garage, HipHop and Dubstep). And you know what? I can't fight the temptation of trying to blend my own influences into those styles of music. Call me crazy if you like! lol I might get slagged off! lol but I don't care!
The Grime track 'Alive Again' that you are hearing on my myspace has been sent to me by an amazing bedroom producer from London PhatBoy (www.myspace.com/iamthestereotype). I listened to it, loved it, wrote some lyrics and recorded it. As simple as that!
I am learning about the Underground UK Music scene everyday and I'd never heard anything like this track before. I liked the idea, the beats, the groove and its energy. Lyrically, the song is also very powerful and means a lot to me personally.
I am LOOKING for more producers to work with on tracks and MCs to collaborate with on 'Alive Again', so feel free to contact me! I know that there is a lot of talent out there so let yourself known!
