Quick... Who was Rosie Ruiz? For those who don't know, Ruiz was an amateur runner who was proclaimed the winner of the 1980 Boston Marathon. Race officials became suspicious, however, when they discovered Ruiz didn't appear in race videotapes until near the end of the race. A subsequent investigation concluded that Ruiz had skipped most of the race and blended into the crowd. About a mile from the finish, she made her way onto the course and ran to "victory." Marathon officials officially disqualified her and proclaimed the winner to be Canada's Jacqueline Gareau.

On a very public platform, Ruiz learned an age-old truth! It may take a while, but in the end, you can be sure your sins will always (and I mean always) find you out!

Every time I think the human race is finally getting this, something else happens. Like this -- earlier this month a man named Bill Henry, passed away in Lakeland, FL. For the past twenty years, Mr Henry had been passing himself off as a former Major League pitcher by the same name. The deceased fooled everyone, including his own wife, stepfamily, and pastor, but even death couldn't spare his family the indignity of having to hear that the real Bill Henry was alive and well in Texas.

And today... Tania Head, the president of a World Trade Center survivor organization had to step down after rumors began to swirl about her actual whereabouts on 9/11. She claimed to be an employee of Merrill Lynch, and to have had a husband/fiance (I guess it depended on the day you asked her about it) who perished in the Towers' collapse. Unfortunately for Ms. Head, she was not listed on any employee roster for Merrill Lynch nor was she known by any of her "husband/fiance's" family.

Next time you want to cover something up, next time you're tempted to lie, next time you try to burnish your reputation on lies, remember -- sooner or later you will be caught!
