(Paul writing.)
For my senior thesis in communication arts at Gordon, I researched Relevant Magazine, a publication I've been extremely fond of for some time now. I looked through the content and style of the magazine, and created my own articles to submit to …

Julie and I have been back in Boston for about a week now, and I must say, we've hit the ground running. She's had off of work this week, and we've been logging 10-12 hour days - grad school applications and ministry job searches.
The grad school applications are …

(Julie writing)
My blog posts often begin this way: I should not be writing this. I should be writing something else.
So it is today.
Not surprisingly, I'm in Starbucks, Microsoft Wording a blog entry because I don't want to pay for internet. The thing I …
Paul's favorite movie is "A Christmas Story" (you'll shoot your eye out, kid), while Julie's is "Amelie". Movies we enjoy together: Stranger Than Fiction, Rushmore, American Splendor. Paul wants you to know that his favorite actors are the Wilson brothers (Luke and Owen), Bill Murray (later stuff), William H. Macy, and Phillip Seymour Hoffman.
Shared love for John Vanderslice, Damien Jurado, Death Cab For Cutie and its offshoots (Ben Gibbard, Postal Service), Sufjan Stevens, Copeland, Dave Bazan/Pedro the Lion, Bloc Party, Regina Spektor, and Sigur Ros.
(Abraham Joshua Heschel) The Sabbath, Man is Not Alone, (Neil Gillman) The Death of Death (NT Wright) The Challenge of Jesus, (Chaim Potok) My Name is Asher Lev, (Brian McLaren) A Generous Orthodoxy, Julie is a big-time Dorothy Sayers fan, and Paul supports Rob Bell's books. (Basically we're church and theology nerds.)
Study dates - sometimes in the form of corporate coffee (Starbucks), and sometimes in support of local business (Trevi's is our little spot with free WIFI). We like outdoor fun if the weather is cool - fall-time walks and things. Generally, Julie is into recreational sports like skiing and hiking; Paul is more into team sports like football and basketball. Board games are wonderful (Backgammon, Battleship, Rummikub, Apples to Apples, and Cranium if only the cards could be yellow for Paul and red for Julie... none of this humming or sculpting business). We're part of a little college church in Beverly, MA called "the.Hill". Paul leads one of the chapel bands at Gordon, and very much loves that. We listen to music, and check our email too often.
Theology: we're becoming more Wesleyan/emergent by the minute. Sabbath theology is something we spend a lot of time studying and practicing. To use terminology for it, we both believe in Creation, Kingdom, and Narrative theologies. In the end, theology needs to come back to loving well - the people who think like us, Xians who don't think much like us, and people who don't follow X as Messiah. (X means Christ.) We're interested in design and pop-art. Paul is turning Julie into a font nerd. Both of us like children and old people, and in-between people. We're learning how to love on those demographics.
