Summer Melt at TRW

Hello there,

As we enter June, thoughts turn to long, warm summer days and balmy nights. But when the good old British summer lets you down, you can all be sure of a great time at Theatre Royal Winchester's Summer Melt during July and August.

From Tues 22-Sat 26 July, we present the hilarious Waiting for Gateaux, written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood, two of the UK's most successful comedy writers. This scrumptious, larger than life comedy is set in Mo-tivators possibly the least efficient health and fitness club in the country! Run by Maureen a 'big-boned' fifty-something widow from a small hall in the middle of nowhere it only attracts clientele who have nothing better to do. It's really just an excuse to meet friends, chat and eat cake. Things seem to be on the up when Sophie, a researcher for a reality TV programme, comes to check out the club but when a snowstorm arrives it brings with it revelations which will change their lives forever in this comedy about friendship, frostbite and French fries.

"A highly entertaining feelgood comedy that had it's sellout audience herniating with laughter" The Stage

Masters of the Musical will be visiting the TRW on Wednesday 30 July. It features tunes from some of the biggest musicals from both sides of the Atlantic. One of the most popular touring shows in the UK, it features show stopping numbers from Miss Saigon, Mary Poppins and many more.

There's a treat for fans of one of Britain's finest ever musical exports, Queen, when GaGa drop in for the evening to treat us all to a selection of their heroes hits. They're so good they don't even wear wigs, make up or false moustache's!

On Friday 1 August join us for a fascinating evening in the company of Michael Portillo. Anyone interested in the vagaries of political life should make a date to see the charismatic ex MP as he shares reminiscences and answers audience questions...

If you fancy unveiling your extrovert side, then Saturday 2 August is the evening for you! Sing-a-long-a Rocky Horror Picture Show, the campest cult classic of all time gets the Sing-a-long-a treatment it's been screaming for! Don't be shy, come along for a riotous, kitsch night that you'll never forget. Ladies undergarments are optional!

I think you'll agree that the Summer Melt has a little something for everyone, so come along and enjoy yourself.
