The Canon Logic. Today's emerging music scene is, well...cluttered. In an otherwise stale sea of power chords and bands all cashing in on the same old formula, the scene would kill for a breath of fresh air. Enter Philadelphia's The Canon Logic...and a wave of harmony-drenched, poppy tunes. TCL sounds almost like something your parents would have listened to mashed with synth beats and harmonies even the Beach Boys would give a nod to. Taking cues from everyone from the Beatles to Radiohead to your old Casio's pre-packaged synth songs, The Canon Logic's sound is entirely refreshing and hauntingly familiar. Founded in late 2004 at the University of Delaware by roommates Tim Kiely and Josh Greenfield, The Canon Logic, formerly known as Greenfront, started as a reason to put an entity behind roughly a hundred songs that Tim had written in his spare time. Inspired by classic literature and steering clear of the usual song topics like failed relationships and lost love, The Canon Logic's music explores complex themes and even a certain level of theatrics. "Station 109" explores dream imagery told through the eyes of a sleeping hero, while "Mona Lisa" tells tales of the protagonist's own female muse, much like the actual painting's supposed subject. Each song somewhat represents a small portion of a larger story - something the band plans to reveal over time. In December of 2006, TCL entered the studio at Range Entertainment in Ardmore, PA to lay down tracks for their first EP with engineer/producer Brian Ritrovato. Mastered by Roger Lian (Sum 41, Nada Surf, Coheed & Cambria) at New York's famed Masterdisk Studios, The Canon Logic EP proudly declares the band's signature, dreamy sound while hinting at the future of things to come. By forging classic sounds with the musical landscape of tomorrow, The Canon Logic is paving the way for this early 21st century generation.
