About

The Classic Three's first incarnation was formed during spring of 2005, consisting of Matt Lahmann (Vocals, Guitar), Daniel Reedy (Vocals, Saxophone, Keyboards), and Tim Karplus (Guitars, Vocals, Piano, Programming).

Extensive jam sessions led to the recording and release of their first single, "The Parking Lot," which achieved significant local success with its acoustic rhythms and everyman, universal lyrics. A few weeks after the recording of "The Parking Lot," Lahmann left the band, citing time conflicts as the primary reason. Some speculate that his departure was due to the failure of their second single, "The Sidewalk," to achieve any kind of success.

Karplus and Reedy decided to carry on the band by themselves, writing the song "Economics," which proved to be their biggest success yet. However, the summer of 2005 brought a hiatus to the now-duo, with Reedy pursuing his baseball career full-time.

The fall of 2005 brought Caleb Cornelius (Vocals, Guitars, Piano, Melodica) to the group to help with a re-recording of "CS Song," one of the more popular songs of the mid-Lahmann era. Karplus and Reedy found Cornelius made a significant contribution to the group, and so they asked him to join.

Output during 2006 has been sporadic but solid, with "Told You So," "Crazy Girl," "Confrontation," "Friends," and "Her" all receiving fair critical success. The recent songs "Girlfriend" and "Games," featuring a guest vocal appearance from Jessica Marshall, are a testimony to the continued improvement of the band, both musically and lyrically.

2007 has been a strong and productive year with lots of new material just waiting to be finished in The Classic Three's at home recording studio. Look for it to show up in the near future!
