The Death Sound - TDS: Year One

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Death Sound

The Death Sound started as a project between Alex and Matt in late summer of 2007. The canonical "birthday" of The Death Sound is August 24th, the first of three days of the Roman Mundus Patet, upon which the gate to the underworld was opened that the spirits of the sanctified dead might commune, dine, and celebrate with the living.

In trust, The Death Sound has its origins as far back as the late 90s and early 00s, when Matt was recording minimalist electronic and IDM as the Bitter Poets, and Alex was aware of Matt's programming work (indeed, they even attended college together), but realization of TDS would be not come until late spring of 2007. The idea behind TDS was initially to bring a retro-Industrial sound to Arkansas, but it soon become clear that TDS wasn't retro, would never be retro, and would be better off doing something new and their own.

"This collection serves to show where TDS has come over the last year, bringing you our earliest recordings and the show that marked our first anniversary, and perhaps to show where we may be going in the future."

^^^^ Here you'll find our first 3 EPs
The Death Sound was formed because of the two members' enjoyment of and fascination with electronic music and the desire to break the trends in the local scene of the same old metal/hardcore/punk/emo sound that is desperately trying to sound so different, but is still essentially all the same thing. We want to do something that, while not groundbreaking (since it is a genre that flourished thirty years ago), will at least be something the likes of which has not been seen in our local venues before. We hope that for those of you who are fans of true Industrial sound, but have never been able to see a performance piece, you will be able to forgive our roughness around the edges and appreciate what we are aiming for.

In the spirit of the very first Industrial act, Throbbing Gristle, we will try to maintain a complete catalogue of our live recordings. Therefore, if you are at our first show, and did not hate us, you will be able to purchase (or receive as a gift, depending on how the band finances are at the moment) a low-fi recording of the previous live performance.

Important notice to bands looking to add the Death Sound
We welcome adds from any band, as we love all kinds of music, however if you are a band of a radically different genre (alternative rock, Christian hardcore, emo), we would greatly appreciate it if you let us know what you think of our sound and how you found us, lest we are to think you added us simply to boost your numbers. Thank you!
