Back in November, 2004,
there was a great knock at the door
for Ohio to rise and step to the challenge.
But, once again, it fell apart unbalanced.
The United States is back in fourth grade
practicing long division every day.
The donkeys and elephants aren't in sync;
we only have their foul circus stink.
Electronic voting proved too tricky;
too many people weren't all that picky.
By selecting four more years,
they brought my wet, salty tears.
You can blame Ohio, but you can't blame me.
This is awfully serious. This is a concern.
Four years in the future, what are we to do?
I voted "no idiot!" against the grain.
But, Ohio, you ought to hang your head in shame.
And that's what makes my friends all Blue.
And that's why most of my friends all flew
off to other cities and towns not so dead;
leaving the Ohio heartland beating Red.
With your schools asking for levees like baby birds all hungry
and your homeowners defaulting like Apple Two E's,
the middle class is falling from their prosperity
thanks to a small secret government philosophy
where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer,
the middle split even, and, oh, the hopeless?
Yep, you guessed it-they don't even matter any more.
You can blame Ohio, but you can't blame me.
