I started selling Avon a few weeks ago and so far I love it. I’m only in my second campaign and already had a few medium sized orders to my online store! It’s exciting when you get those first few orders, It’s kind of like Christmas.

I read somewhere that some Avon reps dislike book dropping and I can see where they are coming from. I know it’s hard to go up to people and talk to them about Avon. I’m shy when it comes to talking to people I don’t know but I went up to some people and asked if they were interested in Avon and you should of saw their face light up! I know not everyone is like that and I will deal with that when it gets thrown at me. For some people it’s easier for them to just put books at people’s door with their info on it. We get a lot of “spam” on our doors around here from different companies. They range from maids to lawn care professionals and it gets annoying to see all these “flyers” on and at our doors. This is why I decided to get out there and talk to people instead of laying a book at doors and walking away.

So my advice to other new reps, step out of your comfort zone and talk to people and hand your catalogs out. The worse they can say is “No”. Don’t let it discourage you though because there are a lot of people who love Avon and are looking for a rep or there are some that don’t know anything about Avon and will end up being your most loyal customer. Also make sure to get names and numbers from people you hand you catalogs to and follow up!

Make sure after getting your new customers name, email address and phone number that you give them a call before your campaign ends. I don’t know how many times people will mark stuff they want and forget to call you. Just call and ask if there is anything they want to order before the recent campaign ends. Most fo the time you will get an order because they laid it on a table forgot about it. So always call!
