The songs were occasionally (that means usually) drunken, but always extemporaneous short songs of a humorous sort. Several albums of "material" were recorded over the course of 5 or 6 years. Most of it is was never available in the form of cassettes or compact discs, with the exception of a cassette called Shit, Commmander and a CD called Sex Appeal. Shit, Commander celebrates its tenth anniversary this year.
At long last, what we think of as 99% of this historic material has been recovered from attics and basements and might be available in some form sometime soon, in the form of a box set or "best of" or internet download at the very least.
G.I.Joe did attempt to reunite for more recording sessions a couple times in the last few years. One session was completely trashed because of unintelligible and/or amazingly offensive (even for G.I.Joe) lyrical content. The most recent session was the first G.I.Joe session to be recorded digitally. This material may be fit for release, or we may just hit "delete."
What you have in your main audio player above is a sampling of the best tracks from the various albums. Perhaps at some point each album in its entirety will be available on some other website or on plastic discs.
Please stay tuned for news from the battlefield.
