September '09 - The Kids United is a melodic/pop punk band from Akron, Ohio. Growing up and playing music with each other since middle school, The Kids United have seen their share of previous bands come and go over the years.

Playing their first show in September 2008, TKU have accomplished more in their first year as a band than their prior bands combined. In November '08 they self recorded and released a five song EP called "Of Ghosts" which was made available as a free online download, or as a $5 handmade CD with artwork by band guitarist Ian Holmes.

After playing many shows around Ohio, TKU have made many friends; one of which is Chicago's No Action Records who approached them about doing a cassette tape release. The tape will be out by the end of the year and will include the five songs from the Of Ghosts EP, as well as two demos, three acoustic versions, and a cover song. Included with every tape will be a download code for easily obtaining the songs and putting them on your MP3 player of choice.

One of the biggest influences on The Kids United was the band The Movielife, so when they were asked to record a song for an upcoming tribute album for the band, they happily got to work and recorded the song Once In A Row. The Movielife tribute album will be released through Kentucky label Little Heart Records. The Kids United will share tribute time with awesome bands like Such Gold, A Loss For Words, and Late Nite Wars... among others. A release date has not yet been set.

To round out 2009, The Kids United will be slowing down, playing fewer shows, and will be completely focused on writing new material for their first full length. Plans of a split 7" and touring are in the works as well. The future hasn't yet been written, but be excited about the possibilities!
