The Longest Day
Dan Henry guitar and lead vocals
Ross Thompson bass and vocals
Alan Varnfield drums and synths
The merry three piece known affectionately as The Longest Day have
been lucky thus far. All heralding from a grey suburban area in the
depths of Bournemouth, Dan (Guitar, vocals), Ross (Bass, Backing
Vocals), Al (Drums, Synths) somehow each managed to find
like-minded souls in a sea of commuting carcasses
Taking strong influences from wide sources, they combine
contemporary rock music with experimental beats and synths,
including hints of the Seattle grunge scene that inspired their
generation.Utilizing each band members differing tastes they have
produced meaningful heartfelt songs with catchy hooks and powerful
lyrics.
They've been described as a fusion between bands like Muse
and Pearl Jam with acts such as Foo Fighters and Incubus -although
they truly sound like something completely new and fresh, making
them a unique and original act.
Broadcasted regularly on Original 106fm, the wide appeal of the
groups music seems to span all ages and interests, as was noted by
DJ Stuart Claw (T4's Sci-fi guy and host of the UKs number one
Anime Radio show at DTRN.net) "...a friend said to me 'I actually
really liked it...and I don't like that kind of music' " and added "I did
find myself singing and humming a lot of the songs and you will find
them repeating through your head after listening".
The Longest Day,although down to earth in nature, are often
complimented on their high quality sound and professional ability
and strive to give an exciting and memorable show "The
performances are consistently good and the band shows a lot of
promise...".
