THE NAMES THAT SPELL
The Names That Spelll is comprised of five musical units(Chase, Evan, Josh, Lucas, and Matt). The units have been playing together since 2001. They are interested in polyrhythms. All five units are trained professionals in sound production & reinforcement. Each member is fluent in many musical idioms and musical instruments, including: zither, piano, accordion, buckets, ukuleles, Vietnamese marimba, saxophone, and a variety of electronics.
The Names That Spell are avid listeners, and enjoy combining folk, rock n' roll, afro-cuban, and jazz music. They are greatly influenced by the improvisatory methods of international musicians. The compositions created by The Names That Spell are whimsical melodic explorations complimented by uncanny meter & gender manipulations.
Their live performances are rather spontaneous, & quite momentous, often incorporating high levels of audience listening. They are independently recorded, produced, engineered, and distributed, but their performances are manifestations of collective effervescence that transcend independence..
A new CD entitled "A & R" is to be released in March 2008
