The Niro

Rome, Italy

About

The Niro, was born in Rome 28 years ago. He starts playing drums at the age of six and guitar and bass at the age of fourteen. After a long time spent as a drummer with a variety of bands of the local scene, T.N. decided to start a more personal project. On February 2002 he starts the band The Niro, in which he's the main songwriter. After a couple of years the band broke up and he decided to continue as a solo. During 2005 he played as a opening act for Sondre Lerche, Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets), Lou Barlow all of them showing their appreciation for his music and then Zephyrs, Okkervill River, Isobel Campbell, TKO and many others.

Last February The Niro was invited to play in Tucson , Arizona . He played there for two consecutive nights at the Red Room, which hosted more than once Howe Gelb and where he shared the stage with the talented Tom Walbank ( Arizona 's Best Blues singer 2005) and the Pearl Handed Pistol. Just got back in Rome The Niro shared the stage with Deep Purple into their show in Rome . After this peculiar experience T.N. supported on an Italy tour the english band Circulus. Again from the States in the occasion of a compilation, promoted by a Boston's college radio celebrating the voice of Elliot Smith, he was asked to play a song of this amazing songwriter, The Niro participated with a cover of "Everything remind me of her". A few months later in june he was in London to play before Italian songwriter Carmen Consoli. In the same summer he was in Vienna where he played at the Tunnel and at the Cafè Carina; then in Paris at the Fléche d'Or. After that show he is asked to play again there for the two following nights. In the meantime the compilation "A century of Covers" Belle and Sebastian's tribute album was out (Kirsten's Post Card rec.), for which Davide recorded a homemade version of "I fought in a war". His walk to the top doesn't seemed to stop: In November 2006 he received the call from Radiohead's manager Chris Hufford asked him to participate into the project Anti Atlas, of which formal Neneh Cherry's drummer Ned Bigham is co-producer and main author. The album will be released on One little Indian on august 2007.
