The Phonies started from a hip hop project by the instrumental mastermind of Jmz Dean and dj/producer J Only. Their musical tastes evolved to Dubstep and they quickly emerged themselves in that scene with their bi-monthly party School of Dubstep Sessions (SODS). Working along side Wolf E Wolf and Stepchild, their event's popularity grew and became a weekly alternating venues. In '09 after completing Nu1 together the duo decided to go in seperate directions and The Phonies became a one man show still working together occasionally.
