It started as a recording project for Portugal native Andre Anjos and the Midwestern songwriter Jakob Lewis. Meeting in their dorm room to write music, Jakob brought his folk lyrics and music and Andre infused it with his electronica influence. The two guys realized that what they had created for a school project could be taken beyond the class room and The Silent Film was born.Knowing what they had, Andre and Jakob found a drummer and bass player and began recording. The "Least" EP was released in the spring of 2006 just in time for their summer tour.
At the end of the tour the drummer and bass player parted amicably with the band wanting to pursue other ventures. When returning to Greenville that fall, two new members of the band were introduced. Oklahoma born Nathan Bender began playing bass for the band and Jon Goldstein from St. Louis, got behind the drums. Both musicians brought a fresh sound to the band and by November they had written all new songs and began recording. They finished their demo in time for the local music festival, Agapefest 2007 put on at Greenville College.
The four of them developed not only a great sound but a strong brotherhood and ventured out again for their 2007 Midwestern tour with friend singer/songwriter Karl F. Kling for a month. In this band's short life they have already played with such bands as: Lovedrug, The Felix Culpa, Tyler James, and many more. They look forward to finishing their recordings and putting out their new album soon.
"All we ask of you is that you scream 'all I need is painted on these walls' when it comes the appropriate time."
