Food, healthy living and random thoughts (written when hungry)

because obviously, duckies, bunnies and lambs are all quite unbearably cute and therefor must NOT be eaten, but after long disscusions with my vegan friend scargill I realised it was, well, just not very nice to decide whether an animal lived or died dependent on cuteness, maybe the animal was very nice, maybe it had a great personality, maybe it just didnt want to die, so after a spout of atempted vegetarianism (which is really clever when your anaemic) I decided I simply did not have the willpower to be vegetarian, also being a vege is a half arsed atempt anyways, I mean, you say your doing it because you care about the animals, yet you'll still drink milk that was designated for calfs, eat eggs that could of been chicks and eat fish, why are fish any less important than land animals? So if your going to do something, do it properly (be a vegan) or not at all. And like I said, I lack the willpower (and crave chocolate too much). So after all this, I went back to being a meat eater, although not so much as before, I still don't eat lamb or rabbit, rarely touch pork, but am inclined to devour a duck when it's a special occasion and beef and chicken throughout the rest of the week.
Trying to eat healthy in general is a chore in itself if you know me, you'll know I can jump from an 8 to a 16 and back down again in a year, but this is not through my own control, I try to be healthy but its just soooo damned time consuming and tasteless that i soon bore of it and tuck into the ben and jerries, but lately I've developed a love for crispbreads and houmus and grapes and low fat cream cheese. So hopefully these can slip into my diet abit more, AND when you actually go out of your way to buy healthy things in the supermarket you get them home and realise that there all actually really bad for you. Fat free yoghurts are stocked full of sugar, dressings for salads are drenched in fat, even dried fruit and nut mixes contain half your rda of sugar or salt.
AND EXCERCISE, going out and buying new jogging pants and trainers so you can start up running and then realising you a)live in england, the land of rain. b)can not actually run. c)have alot less free time than you actually thought and d)live in one of the hillyest areas in yorkshire, soon stops you in your tracks (no pun intended) so you contemplate a gym membership, but then the realities of being a student hit and you realise you don't want to take out an extra loan for the membership fees.
O my gosh i digress so easily, this was supposed to be a blog about chris's birthday...................
So, we went to jumbos, ate alot and then decided to walk over to zepher bar because I walk past it nearly everyday and it always looks so chilled (maybe a little bit pretentious, but all good bars are) and I always think I should go there one night, but then I wind up at a gig somewhere or a club in leeds and never get round to it. On our way we got talking to this door guy on this thai place (the kind you get on holiday, trying to drag you into there resteraunt with promises of things you'll probably never get, but a little more english and polite) telling us his bar had the best and cheapest cocktails, and even though we were a little bit dubious as to how nice these cocktails would actually be we went in anyways, and ordered the house mix which turned out to be the best cocktail ever! Free poured measures of ammertto, vodka and southern comfort mixed with an array of fruit juices and ice for only £2.25, total bargain! And I would of happily sat there and drunk until the cows came home, and then when they did come home I would of yelled, Oi you silly cows, can't you see i'm enjoying myself, come back later, but alas we had to go catch the pauper transport system (aka the bus) back home because chris's parentals were coming back in the morning (today) and we still had a weeks worth of washing up to do and move the matress back that had managed to migrate into the living room.
anyways, this is probably really really boring to read, so if you are, stop reading now, go outside and live!
au revoir
