The breakers of death, churned round about me,
The menacing floods, the dark of the sea.
The chords of Sheol tightened,
The snares of hell lay in wait for me.

In my distress I cried out Lord,
I cried out to my God.
From his temple he heard my voice,
My cry came before Him, he heeded my call.

He parted the heavens and came down, a dark cloud under his feet.
He rescued me from my mighty enemies, from foes to powerful for me.

He made the darkness a cover about him,
His canopy shuddered with thick thunderclouds.
The voice of the Lord trembled all the heavens,
My enemies shuddered all around.

Mounted on a beautiful Cherubim,
Borne along the wings of the wind.
They attacked me on a day of struggle,
But the Lord Almighty came to my assist.
