A large percentage of the world calls me Amanda. A slightly smaller percentage leaves the “uh” sound off and calls me Manda (which I prefer). And thank God no one calls me Mandy. My mom was originally going to name me Lacy Lanette but the nurse handed me to her and proclaimed “Here’s your little Amanda Sue!” To which my mom refused delivery and stated “That’s not my daughter!” Seems that my dad decided to name me Amanda Sue when he first seen me without consulting my mom. He said I looked like an Amanda. That name was never brought up in their discussions of baby names and to this day my mom will go off on a rant about it if asked.
I am clumsy, goofy, dorky, moody, sarcastic, unusual, opinionated, maybe a little more mentally unstable then I should be and defiantly stubborn.
I am a female. Not surprisingly, I have always been a female and generally like the idea of being a girl and do not plan on changing this at any point. I do however have a male counterpart named Mike. It surprises people when they find out that Mike and I have know each other since I was 5 and he was 6. We ruffled more then a few feathers when we began dating in high school (January 1996). We tied the knot, took the plunge, walked down the aisle on December 8, 2001.
We have a beautiful, intelligent, creative little lady named Raven Jane who has a combination of her mother’s smart ass mouthy-ness and her father’s goofy-ness. If you know her father and I well you will see she takes after both of us. She is a wonderful artist who some day will have her own manga and live in Japan.
I was born and raised in West Virginia but lived in Ohio for 6 years (from the age of 9 to 15), and I have decided that West Virginia is indeed a nice place to live. Like most of my family, I am not a liberal. I lean way more to the right of the political scale and fall somewhere between a Conservative Republican and a South Park Republican. I am a Christian though I have friends from all religious backgrounds and walks of life and never push my beliefs onto anyone.
I have been told on more then one occasion that I have an old soul and that I was born in the wrong era. I have always acted older then my age and am more reserve around people that don’t know me very well. My close friends and family see the true me, whether that’s a good or bad thing I don’t know.
I was an only child until my parents got divorced and my dad married my now evil step-mother, whom I love, who all ready had 3 boys. So I have acquired 3 step-brothers who are as much of a pain in the ass as biological brothers. I am very lucky to have a wonderful, though extremely crazy, family. I love them with all my heart.
I have an obsession, that I do not want cured, with Horror Movies and Ewan McGregor. People tell me that I have seen way too many movies. I believe Bruce Campbell is king. I have a love for the paranormal and have been studying it, with a main focus on ghosts, since I was 11 years old. My favorite Monty Python is Michael Palin. I can recite verbatim the Choose Life speech from Trainspotting. I know how to do the Time Warp. I am a rockstar when I am in my car. I will do the Apache dance from The Sugarhill Gang when I hear that song. I have a soft spot for most things Japanese. I am border line obsessed with all things kawaii (cute Japanese items). I take my camera with me just about every where I go and have been threatened to have it shoved up my bum more then a time or two. I am finally learning how to be comfortable in my own skin. I will own a 4 door hardtop black 1967 Chevy Impala (someday). I have a head full of useless movie trivia which really only comes in handy while playing Scene It (which I will beat you at). I am trying to learn Japanese.
