Benny graduated to big boy dog food last night. It makes me chuckle when he finished gobbling his food then runs up to me and burps.
Dogs are so awesome.
I have GOT to get my piece finished for the Christmas cards. It's already December! Plus I have an idea involving jewel scarabs for another piece. My artwork has pretty much become a series of collages that feature things that fascinate me. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not that's it has less personal expression-- it just expresses a different (more positive) part of my psyche. I don't want to leave an artistic legacy behind made up of ballerinas with self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the foot, and succubi evaporating the life force out of the withered husks of helpless victims. My artist's statement is basically a manifesto along those lines actually. I go on and on about how an artist's body of work is more interesting when it spans the whole of the human emotional spectrum. To put it simply, people who only do dark stuff are probably tapping into that more than humanly possible. The same could be said for overly cheerful artists, but you run into them far less often.
This is why I've wanted to have an art show of my own and title it "the Bi-Polar Express"
Three cheers for blog entries that go way off topic!
