News news news. We hear it everyday. We hear it on the radio and our podcasts, and we watch it on our tv's and AppleTV's. We read it in our RSS feeders and everywhere else.
So here I am to bring you more.
For those of you who read, again, I am grateful for you. You show compassion for people. You show the Love of God. You show me how I want to act. None of you would admit to it, but you are awesome. And as quiet as I may be at times, you are always there with a comforting word. Hard words come and hard words go, but words of comfort stick with us.
WITH THAT SAID:
- I moved out!!! That's right people. I have moved out of my parents' house. This is really cool for me because I had done this a couple years ago after high school, then got really sick, then had to move back in with mammy. Don't get me wrong, I love mammy (and grandmammy), but it was a little discouraging. And now, here I am, out of the house. Paying rent. Where did I move, do you ask? I moved in with David Giordano of the Arlington Giordanos. He has a little basement below the house of a friend of his family, and he has graciously let me bunk with him. We've made it work too. It's awesome. So if you haven't heard from me recently it's because I've been driving my parents' truck all over the place. Booyah.
- Over at AndrewOsenga.net, we've decided to (HA! "We've..." "Geof and Chris...") start a discussion forum for Andy fans to sit and discuss... forumally. Yep. I went there. We (HA!) noticed that some of the blog posts that Andy has written have stirred up some quite long discussions. And they have all taken place in the comments sections of his blog. This is a hard place to hold specific discussions. So there is now a formal forum ready for coffee talk about the issues. Go on and sign up for a free account and czech it out.
- The new iPods are quite something.
- I have started reading The Hobbit. So good. I am loving it as always. It is such a wonderful stretch of the imagination while still pointing to the ultimate redemption of man through struggle, pain, and sacrifice from one, unexpected person. Awesome. I have also started Don't Waste Your Life. This book highly impacted my life the first time I read it. So I decided it was time for a second go. And I'm glad I started. More updates will follow. Also, if you haven't read Flannery O'Connor, now is the time. I have never been interested in short stories, but hers are wonderful. Go buy A Good Man Is Hard To Find.
- I am really writing a lot. Whether it's drawings, gibberish, or prose, it can all be found inside my fairly new song journal. There's just something about Moleskine (pronounced "MOLE-SKEEN") that is inspiring. It fits nicely in my back pocket. Include a pen and I'm golden! The first years of progress of an aspiring musician will be slow, at least, that's what it seems (especially for me) but, all good things take time. This will take years... which is great. I'm discovering that I'm in love with percussion. I will post a song I'm working on that have some killer percussion tracks soon.
- Dave G and I had a devotional last Monday night/morning at a park in Shoreline. I brought the guitar and we sang, met some other believers, and read and discussed a passage in I Cor. 6.
12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything. 13 "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food"--and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two will become one flesh." 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
Yep. I haven't stopped thinking about this. God has been keeping it in my mind. It's caused an amazing hunger for His word. "Yes, thank you, I'd like some more."
So will this do for now? I am sorry it is long. Most people skip right over posts as long as this (especially when there's no pictures) so if you've made it this far *high five*.
And from the free WI-FI of the University Zoka, I say, "Goodnight and goodluck."
