All of the buildings were made from brack and concrete. Thier homes stayed quite cool.

This was a "fire tunnel" that we did with the Brazilians in Paranapanema. Its the first time I'd ever been in a fire tunnel.

Today was the day that our church decided to not camp-out in a building on Sunday morning. We went out into our community and showed people that we cared. My wife and I headed up a bread ministry. She and about 5 or 6 other church members got up at 4:30am to baker bread for some of us to hand out later that day. We went door to door giving people a loaf of bread and a smile. No proselytizing or advertising or bate and switch, it was awesome. I hope we get to do it again, it was wonderful for me, to get to reach out into the small communities within our community that I never get to see. We mostly went to low income apartment complexes and a local trailer park, which seem to have a stigma about them and a stereotype in the larger community that can be very misleading. There were other ministeries going on at the same time as ours, people were doing repairs on homes for people who couldn't physically perform them, or just didn't have the time. We had another team that went up to the Care Center to just love on the old folks up there. It sounds like something that we as a church are going to start doing seasonally, and I am looking forward to seeing how that changes things both in the community and in the church as we turn our faith in Christ into an active love.]]> Mon, 22 Sep 2008 11:57:41 -0700 http://virb.com/top5/posts/text/837075
