I just emailed the following to my congressman:
I believe the "Big 3" auto manufacturers have mismanaged their companies and their funds and do not truly deserve the bailout that they have asked for. In the upcoming vote for the bailout, the only way I, as your constituent, would support it is if there is sufficient oversight that the automakers will reform their ways and a mandate to make their vehicles more green. I also think that some of that money should be given to some of the newer startup companies that are trying to bring their electric vehicles to market, such as Tesla, Aptera, Zap, Phoenix, and Fisker. Seeding these smaller startups should get their vehicles to market quicker and help our country reduce its dependence on foreign oil while reducing CO2 emissions.
Yes, I know I'm not the best or most persuasive writer, but I think my message is fairly clear.
