Transvaal IV was formed in 2006, and is currently based in the Ft. Worth, Texas metropolitan area.

Transvaal IV's first album, Postcards From Zurich, was released in the spring of 2007. An EP, Alexis In Technicolour, was released the following summer.

A new EP, Vanden Aquitanias, was released digitally in February 2009. A physical release is planned for later in the spring.
