About
Guido Hoppe a/k/a Typecell is a Drum'n'Bass / Neurofunk Producer and DJ from Kassel in Germany. Having bought his first set of turntables and a mixer at the age of 14 and practicing with the sounds of electro to acid house,settling with techno as his choice,came 1993 to the birth of "DJ P.M.C." b-sides his regular resident dj job at the house clubs "Gleis 1" and "New York Factory" (kassel) he has spin all over germany and getting recognition & success for his experimental techhouse sets. Guido Hoppe starts producing own songs around 1996 with releases on the own imprint "Genetic Rhythm Records" and got releases over the time on such labels as "Bonzai Records / N.E.W.S." , "Red Alert Records" "Thunderdom" , "House Nation" and many others...
1998 the interests were moving more toward the break beats. His decision to stop making techno as well as closing the own label Genetic Rhythm Records was made to concentrate on his creation of fresh “technoid” Drum N Bass. In 1999, he created the new moniker "Typecell" in order to produce his more experimental tracks by fusing Techno and Drum'n'Bass. His reputation was built in the underground scene by utilizing a series of mix tapes and numerous innovative releases on vinyl, cd’s and mp3. By 2002 his record label “Protogen Records” was born targeting a more “forward thinking”, club-friendly DNB sound. In 2004, "Subplate Recordings" was added to the Protogen camp as a netlabel subdivision. Typecell created several projects over the years such as www.futurednb.com , www.drumandbassmix.com , www.digitaldnb.net and a period moderator on www.future-music.net and www.dnbnation.com. Since it’s inception, Typecell has received a great level of resonance and support from many Drum'n'Bass & Techno artists worldwide.
