About
Valkyrie Fighter is from Cape Town, South Africa. The sound they have is so diverse, but not without being able to pick out their influences which come from straight up metal, hardcore, punk rock, nu-metal and progressive rock. The music is something they hope to take in many directions but without moving too far from their core style.
Valkyrie Fighter's story began 3 years ago. In the beginning there was Nicolas Rix (Vocals), Leon Lucas (Drums) and Warren Williamson (ex-Guitarist). They started out with no real direction, besides the fact that they wanted a band with real passion and desire to make good heavy music.
Early 2006 Nicolas, Leon and Warren picked things up again and started looking for a second guitarist. Mike Dowson (Guitar) filled this position perfectly. He added a nice new creative element, which would end up becoming Valkyrie Fighter's foundation for writing songs. Practices became more frequent, and a bassist auditioned. Terence Siewerson (Bass) added a smooth relaxed bass element to the music. But the songs were not going in a good direction for a while and they felt that parting ways with Warren was best for the band and the new direction they wanted to take.
After not finding a replacement for Warren, they continued to polish and rewrite some of the existing material. Some songs were thrown out and others become new songs. Donovan Griggs (Guitar) eventually replaced Warren. He had never played heavy music before, but has an incredible amount of enthusiasm and drive within the band.
They are still yet to play their first show.
