Venable was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, and started playing the guitar at a young-ish age. Lived in Boise, Idaho, for some years playing with Jeremy Miller in Weary Gentlemen's Saloon, Palmer Cloud in Downshift Now!, and performing solo. Then to Louisville, Kentucky, for more solo performing, spontaneous touring with the likes of Cynthia Nelson and Dave Pajo, and the meeting of many fine folks that would lead to the next move to Brooklyn, New York, where Venable played with Anna Padgett and Cynthia Nelson (later Geoff Soule, of Fuck) in The Naysayer. After a brief pause in Memphis, Tennesee, Venable has called Portland, Oregon, home for the last 4 years and performs irregularly with the Venable All-Stars (Kristina Davies, drum and vocals, Matt Hall, upright bass, Venable, guitar and voice), Sad Horse (Geoff Soule, guitar and voice, Venable, drums and voice), and other random exciting projects. Venable is working on a recording that is hoped to be finished by the end of the year. Also looking forward to the release of a split 7" with the talented Micheal Turner (of Warmer Milks, a great band from kentucky). Thoughts for the future: touring. europe. yard shows. living room shows. new sounds. quilt-making. food and friends.
Venable also makes all sorts of art and takes pictures. See photos..
