Vertigo Movement

When you're in your 20s, “vertigo” can often reflect how life is. There's a consistent inconsistency in everything from your friends and roommates, to your job or career. Who will I marry? Where will I live? What kind of a person am I becoming? What is God doing with me? What am I going to do about God? It's vertigo. However, in spite of all these unknowns the one thing we do know is that God loves us and desires to transform us into something unexpected...something amazing, something different from the status quo. How? That's one of the reasons we meet: to learn, discuss, live, and explore.

The Scent of Victory

The runs came in and the Vertigo softball team suddenly found itself in the lead for the first time in the season. Our team was clicking, we were hitting well, our defense was impenetrable. Jason was running the bases so fast that by the time the third baseman got the ball to first, Jason was home.

Inning after inning (well...just a couple) went by and we held them scoreless. Eventually we were up 9 to 0. But then...somehow, the other team brought in 11 runs in one inning. It was now a different ballgame.

So we were up. Time to take back our lead. And take it back we did. Eventually we went up 15 to 12. But suddenly we found ourselves out of time. The home team had one last chance at bat. All we needed to do was get three quick outs and we would taste our first victory ever. We were so close to it we could smell it.

And with great pride for the team I can say, we sure handled ourselves well in defeat. One run, that was it. We lost by one run. But our team played tremendously, everyone was positive. If you haven't had a chance to meet them yet, come check out our next ballgame this Friday night at the Riverview fields on the corner of 8th st. and Dobson in Mesa. We have a team of quality people, and it's awesome to be a part of it.

Hope to see you there!

Peace!
-Tim

10 Runs In!!!!!

This last Friday, we made it happen by scoring 10 runs!!! Unfortunately, it took two games to do it, and the other teams scored a combined total of over 40. But... BUT! we scored! And...we are all the more prepared for our next games.

Injuries aside (we had 3...but they were minor and nobody is no the DL) we are actually a good team. We have a lot of natural talent, and when we get in a grove, we make it happen. Now that we've played together, we're taking it to the rim...or the plate...whatever. After we hit the cages, we're going to be fierce. We're going to be running the bases so fast the other teams will have vertigo.

Here are some highlights...

JR scored our first run ever.
David hit the first home run over the fence in center field (he clobbered it).
Jason (a.k.a. Wheels) is the fastest runner alive, and easily turns any single into a double.
Jarrin's bat got so cold it actually shattered when she hit the ball...not really.
Nick is the friendliest softball player ever.
When she gets on the field, Erin means business.
Zack can throw a softball 5 miles (apparently it's his reach).
Stephanie found out the hard way that softballs aren't soft.
Apparently, even though it's ice cold outside, fingers can still swell when they get jammed...just ask Shea!

All in all, it was an awesome night. Thanks to those of you who came out to show your support and cheer us on. We hope to see you at the fields again on January 4th (this time at 6:30pm) as we tackle another game (maybe as a coach I should get my analogies straight).

Peace y'all!

-Tim

Adventures of the Drive In Movie

Hello all! Vertigo Live here!
I commend the brave souls who endured the freezing conditions and joined us at the drive-in. The weather was threatening, but it didn't rain a drop! Tim had a fun eggnog adventure at the grocery store that got a good laugh, but at least we had a never-ending supply of eggnog to keep our stomachs lined with a nice thick film.

Once they managed to focus the screen and get the thing out of the way that was blocking half of it, the movie was quit nice. Although, I must say that I was rather disappointed that "Christ the savior is born" was taken out of the song, "Silent Night." That's not my style.

Overall, it was a memorable movie night, and I'm glad I got to share it with you.

Much love!
