Dig myself a hole in the snow,
Tightly wrapped in a threadbare coat –
Seems a strange way to keep out cold;
I do as I’m told.
Fancy meeting you in my hole!
Who would’ve thought that it could hold two?
Seems our heat has melted snow.
The whole way through, we get to hide
From the view of those above.
Inch by inch we scurry through –
Don’t know when this cold will subside,
Leaving us on an opposite side
Of an invisible line.
All we see around is white.
In this stop, we come upon brick.
Atop our crystalline
Insulate, we find ourselves
In unknown civilizations.
People there don’t speak our way:
They speak some other language.
Words bow out where people say………………
One more time to drown you out –
Who will follow your map now?
While you go where it’s so loud,
We stay where there is no sound.
Pages of “they drown me out”…
We stay where there is no sound.
Fangs show where the teeth bow out.
We stay where there is no sound.
You hold ideas ‘til it’s too loud
For anyone to hear, and then you talk out.
We hold our sound ‘til it’s too loud
For anyone to hear, then we make no sound.
The room still echoes above your words.
The voice still goes, “Take off, it hurts.”
Hold onto sound, shake rattle and roll,
Fold up your mumblings, prattle and go.
One more time to drown you out…
