who: wake up poland, it's nine o'clock is comprised of two roommates, philip grey and paul brandt. both are currently quite involved with their main projects as well. phil's is an electroacoustic solo project, The Messenger Lay Asleep, and paul's is a local indie-folk band, Cranes & Crows. the two both write the music, sing, and play various instruments for the recordings, and would much appreciate you checking out their other music as well.
what: the goal of the two a.m. sessions project is to capture the mood of late nights in a college dorm building. the songs go in three cycles of five: paul and phil alternate songs for four weeks, and on the fifth week, they collaborate. all fifteen songs will be downloadable, and at the end of the project in may, a show will be played where cds will be given out. cds will likely not be available for purchase online, but everything will be posted here on VIRB.
when: every weekend for the duration of second semester (minus a one week break in march) between the hours of two and three a.m.
where: governors hall, room 124, eau claire, wi.
why: we both write songs, and we figured it'd be fun to play them together, and even more fun to share them with other people.
how: all songs are recorded entirely live with one microphone. various aspects of dorm life can be heard throughout the recordings: a beeping microwave, squeaking shoes, door creaks.
additional notes: thanks for checking out our page, and our blog, and our songs. this started out as something we tried doing for fun, and turned into something slightly more serious. if you've been listening from the start and downloading our songs, thank you, we'd love for you to stick with it til the end. if you're just finding us now, and want to hear it all, everything is right here and downloadable.
