Hi we are running late in the making of our website so here is our myspace page while you're waiting.
First and foremost I would like to thank all the bands and artists who have taken part in our compilation and first ever release: Folks Pop In at the Waterhouse. Without them we would never have had the idea and found the energy to make Waterhouse Records happen.
Waterhouse Records' goal is to try to record independent folk songwriters we like, and release the results. A lot of them are living here in Paris but that isn't a criteria. Some are from Grenoble, Sweden, Canada or the US. Some are already signed on well known indie labels, and the others will be too someday if we have anything to say about it.
So in the beginning (before we decided to make it a record label) there was Waterhouse Studios. That's where all the bands from the compilation came to record. It’s also where Hapless (Flowers From The Man Who Shot Your Cousin’s debut album) was recorded. The way we work there is pretty old school. We do exclusively analogue recordings with multiple microphones and usually live takes. We love the lo-fi ways but we love great sound as well. So the idea is to invent hi-lo-fi. I know, that makes no sense.
Now to talk business: If you feel an irresistible urge to buy our records, you will find ways to do so on our website (which should be online very soon) and in the meantime, you can find the goods on Drunk Dog Records' online shop where you will find loads of other goodies from a sharp selection of independent labels. Or you can even write me on Myspace and place an order. If you are living in France (lucky bastards) our records are distributed there by Musicast. That means that technically they should be available in all Fnacs and Virgin stores etc. If you can't find them in store, ask the staff, they can easily order it. For people living in Paris, I suggest buying our records at Ground Zero (that's in Paris not New York) 12 rue de Crussol Paris 11eme, which is packed with tremendously good music and run by the friendliest people around, or in the new art gallery/bookshop En Marge (92 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud, 75011). You will also find them at Waves or Bimbo Tower, near Bastille. Or you can find one of us at the Pop In's Open Mic one Sunday night (105 rue Amelot, Paris 11eme) just ask around.
