My school- the Savannah College of Art and Design- had a The Fray concert last night, for which I had tickets. As lame as it sounds, that's the first real concert I've been to. I've seen Sister Hazel and Blues Traveler and such, but they were free and in the park across the street from where I live, so it doesn't really count. This was the first concert I've been to that had the whole choreographed and synchronized light show, which, by the way- was completely mesmerizing. I couldn't stop staring at the lights. Call me crazy but...

But not only that, there was the almost palpable energy in the air with everyone screaming the lyrics along when they pointed a mic out into the audience, and being in a confined theater, the sound was near deafening. But it was all amazing nonetheless. Being a self-proclaimed ginormous fan of The Fray almost a year now, it was a real treat to see them live.

Also of note, Mutemath, a band which I'd never heard of but heard good things about, opened for them. After the opening song they told the audience they were from New Orleans, which I wasn't expecting. That small fact made the whole night that much better; knowing New Orleans was still rocking out even over here in Georgia. But they were damn good; gonna purchase a few of their songs on iTunes soon, to boot.

Lastly, a few weeks ago I bought a new cellphone to replace my two year phone plan I had going on with Verizon, and I upgraded with their top-o'-the-line Samsung SCH-A990 cameraphone. The sole reason I purchased the phone was for the camera; a little 3.2mp. Not too fantastic in today's day and age, (hell, my DSLR is 8mp) but it was a tremendous change from my 0.3mp VGA thing I had going on before. This one shoots at an impressive 2048x1536px, and can record an hour's worth of video. Plus, I've got a 2GB microSD card in it, so I've got more than enough room to shoot to my heart's desire. So naturally I snapped a few photos and videos of the concert as it went down. However, one can only expect so much from a cameraphone when it comes to audio quality, sitting in the 11th row in a packed theater with a live band performing twenty five feet away.

Alas. Nevertheless, it was a good time. Well worth the $30.
