Wine:

Riesling Kabinett

Lush fruit, Citrus, pear, apple - finish is a bit short but the fruit and acidity is pretty good. A nice summer wine. A respectable Kabinett

Bouquet - Pear, apple, with a bit of what I swear is tulips.

I normally don't have white wine with a dinner like this but I decided to freak it out a bit. I usually would have a Beaujolais or a Pinot. Most people who like white would have a chardonnay (since that is what's in the wine sauce), but I find Rieslings to be such an amazing white, full of body and fruit, that I decided to try it with dinner. It works. Being a red wine person (Bordeaux, Oh yea) I usually jump at any chance to drink red, and seeing that there are several fine examples of Bordeaux right behind me, I have to give myself kudo points for resisting the urge to drink a "serious" wine. Actually Rieslings are my favorite white and my second favorite wine (Bordeaux is my first love). I think this wine would go really, really well with fish like "John Dory" or Monkfish in my opinion. It also would work well just by itself but the catch is you have to be on a front/back porch during a summer afternoon to truly appreciate it!
