European Blues

post a comment | posted Mar 22

Every time the weather changes from winter to spring, or in my case since I live in Indiana winter to summer, I can't help but feel "homesick" for Europe. I remember waking up in Venice and having a café latte by the Scalzi bridge, feeling warm spring air on my face, and watching people be tourists. Maybe that's why I like café latte (Thanks Sue for introducing me to café latte in Venice). It's crazy how the memories and feelings come flooding back in an instant. I was leaving the studio the other day (because we are recording are first full length!) and suddenly realized it was summer/spring. All of a sudden I was back in Dublin having a pint with my favorite bus driver Brian. I was back in Paris having a banquette by the Siene river. I was eating ice cream in Bacharach (Germany). I was hopelessly lost in Amsterdam. I was eating a late dinner in the English Gardens in Munich. I was listening to Jazz in Prague.
Yes, I was homesick. Its not that I have lived in Europe for any great length of time (5 months in Ireland) but the memories I formed are priceless. So, as write this I am enjoying a nice glass of German Riesling Kabinett and eating a French banquette (or an adequate substitute) to ward off the European blues.
Cheers.
