I realize that I have been a bit late in getting the blogs back up and running. I apologize, but It's been crazy trying to finish up our record.
I have been slaving away for the past month working on string charts for our record. So much Fun. Oodles of it.
Anyway, I was realizing the other day that the simple things in life have so much merit. Take cheese for example: Simple, yet so complex, an everyman food, yet an item for the connoisseur. In fact the most perfect dinner I have had in the past week was crusty French bread, champagne grapes, a delicious Portuguese red wine (in the style of Bordeaux), and of course a delicious cheese tray (Manchego, Chevre, Fresh Mozzarella, Dubliner Irish Cheese)
However the perfect dinner is not just the food alone. You must be with friends and have the right setting. My friends were none other than Josh and Ray. Josh and I kept making comments about how this was so much like our time in Europe. My setting happened to be on my front porch listening to the sounds of the city, which included an irate rooster and a pit bull. And when the sun set and the stars came out and a massive fireworks display erupted in my neighbors back yard for all to see (this is several weeks after the 4th of July mind you), with a glass of wine, a mouthful of cheese, and good friends at my side I could honestly say it's a good dinner. I have no idea what everyone's idea of a good dinner is but this is definitely one of mine (though any dinner with lamb and a good bottle of Chateau Palmer can't be ever be.
