Passage: John 6:51-60

Jesus can say some pretty amazing things! Like eat my flesh and drink my blood, but through all of chapter 6 we can find a common theme. Surrendering our life to his authority. People deserted him on this day in scripture because they didn't believe in what Jesus was saying. Jesus was telling them they just had to have faith in him. He is the source to eternal life. He is the ultimate authority. We even have a hard time surrendering to his authority today even as Christ followers. He may be impressing something on our heart and we ignore the call. This is a hard truth but I love what Peter had to say in verse 68-69, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God." Peter gave up everything to follow Jesus. Would we do the same if Jesus called us to give it all?
