These songs fall somewhere between a diary and a sermon.
Most of us know Socrates famous quote, "The unexamined life is not worth living", and I'd say most of us do a pretty good job examining our own lives and the lives of those around us, but I think Socrates point was a little deeper than that. What we're really after is meaning...truth! The process of examining is supposed to lead us somewhere, isn't it?
That's what these songs are for me, and I hope they can be that for someone else as well. I love music by itself, but here I try to use it as a vehicle for something more tangible than sound. I have found certain things to be true, and those things have found their way into the words of my songs.
Something can be true but also dead at the same time. I'm after more than that here. I'm after truth that, once it's found, will come alive and change who I am as I take it in. That's what this first album is to me...hence the name "More Than True".
