It's pretty much established that most people on FMyLife.com are in high school and mostly have issues with relationships, jobs and parents. But it can be narrowed down even more than that.

These are the six major categories under which about 75% of the posts on FML fall:

1. Fat/ugly girls for whom someone just confirmed they are fat/ugly
2. Teen virgins who have just been carelessly rejected by the person they've had a crush on for 2 years
3. People who overheard their parents having sex
4. People who were dumped unceremoniously by their boyfriend/girlfriend
5. People who just found out something weird or scary about their boyfriend/girlfriend
6. People who were electronically humiliated in front of their boss

The other 25% of FML has a little more variety. Maybe 2/3 of it is one of these:

- People who saw/overheard their parents doing something unusual, besides having sex
- People who were humiliated in the high-school sense (i.e. my ex-best friend wore the same top as me to school, FML)
- People who are confused over what constitutes an "FML" (i.e. i had to shovel the driveway and now I'm sooo tired, FML)

So that means 1/3 of 25%, or about 9 out of 100 FMLs, is something truly unusual and worthy of a "fuck my life." Fuck that.
