I am surrounded by the pieces of this huge
puzzle: here's a piece I call my wife, and
here's an odd one I call convictions, here's
conventions, here's collisions, conflagrations,
congratulations. Such a puzzle this is! I
like to grease up all the pieces …

"We associate truth with convenience, with what most closely accords with self-interest and personal well-being or promises best to avoid awkward effort or unwelcome dislocation of life. We also find acceptable what contributes most to self-esteem." - John Kenneth Galbraith

so far this is turning out pretty well. now we have to figure out how to have an online party. it's hard to get people to come to an event without booze.
Maybe a series of coordinated chat rooms, each with a topic being discussed by significant numbers in the group. Webcams would be cool. I might try an IFC critique party. Every body who is interested looks at a selected film on IFC that day and then jumps in a forum or one of two chat rooms. Room 1: Thumbs up Room 2: Thumbs down. Obviously you can switch rooms on a whim.
even better, maybe a bittorrent of a short film created by a Virb member.
suggestions anyone? what's the use of a friends page if you never talk to each other. social nets are too one to one oriented. We need a many to many environment.

Fastanstic idea. I should have thought of that! Wow...I'm from the midwest as well....at this rate you may have to change your criteria to people in the Midwest who HAVEN"T heard of COLC. It's getting crowded in here with all the midwesterners....

An interesting litmus test you have there. I have a feeling that you may truly find out if other people who like City of Lost Children are indeed friend worthy.
Jackie, Mar 12, 2007:
hello. using cinematic taste as an indicator of intelligence might just well get you into trouble...
Marcus, Mar 12, 2007:
I live in the midwest and not only have I seen City of Lost Children, I own a copy on widescreen VHS.

I think you might appreciate that one. : ) I sure hope so.
