January 19th was my birthday and this year I got a nice Canon digital SLR, the Canon XTi with the EF-S 18-55 lens. Now, I'm no professional photographist, that's the word they use, but from what I've read and seen with my photos is that this camera takes really good photos. Here's a photo of my dog Jackson.

 
What I don't know is what is the difference between a zoom-able lens and a non-zoom-able lens. Post your answers in the comments, I'm going to go take about a hundred more photos of my dog.
